First Film Festival "Zerkalo" was held at the home of Andrei Tarkovsky in the Ivanovo region in 2007 and was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of his birth. In memory of mentor and friend Andrew Arsenijevic fellow students organized the program "Tarkovsky forever." Also, the audience was shown a retrospective of films with the participation of People's Artist of the USSR Chourikova Inna, who became president of the festival. The first members of the "Mirror" were films from India, France, Mexico, Germany, Iceland and many other countries. People's Choice Award and a special prize of the President of the Festival in the same year won the paintings Russian directors.
In 2008, the festival was timed to coincide with the centennial of the Russian cinema. The program of the non-competition screenings was included legendary film Tarkovsky - a historical drama "Andrei Rublev", an epic story about the life of the icon painter Andrei, who took fifteen years of silence. Best Feature Film at the second festival was the French musical "Under the roofs of Paris." And the prize "For outstanding contribution to world cinema" was a Russian actor Alexei Petrenko, known for his roles in the films "The Barber of Siberia", "A Cruel Romance", "Doctor Zhivago."
Every year the festival has developed, covering more areas of the Ivanovo region. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 in the nearby towns of Ivanovo were held creative meetings viewers with actors and directors. In 2010, "The Mirror" was replaced by the president of the festival, instead of Ina Chourikova they became director Pavel Lungin. The number of spectators attending the events of the festival, has grown to twenty thousand people.
Sixth International Film Festival "Zerkalo" was held in late May - early June in Ivanovo and Ples and Yuryevets. In particular, the Reach was organized screening of films under the open sky, on the Volga River. Spectators were able to watch the Oscar-winning silent film "The Artist" and the drama "7 days and nights with Marilyn", filmed in memory of Marilyn Monroe. The composition of the members of the jury included representatives from France, Austria, Lithuania and Russia. At the international competition of feature films from our country was represented by war drama "In the Fog", filmed on the novel by Vasil Bykov, and tells the story of the partisans of the Great Patriotic War.
