In the opinion of experienced coaches, to teach children to swim can be no earlier than 4 - 6 years, and even then, only when you know very well how to do it. Young children rather simple games in the water using a variety of inflatable supporting means. Most importantly, the water caused the child's positive emotions. The inept attempt to swimming training can lead to the fact that the kid will be frightened, and then teach him to swim will be impossible.
If your child is already 4 years old, and he was happy to splash in the water, try to teach him to lie on his back, introduce the properties of water. If you are going on to teach him to swim, you have to have already forgotten inflatable circles. The fact that the circle holding the child in an upright position, as is necessary for navigation horizontal position. Successful replacement of the circle will armlets, the inflatable belt or collar, that is, any means that will allow the child to lie in the water freely.
Age six or seven years is the most favorable for the start of the course. The child is already able to listen attentively to the coach and to do all that he says. In this age there is and so-called "sense of water", without which serious swimming training impossible.
If you're going to give her baby to a sports school, then think carefully about whether to do it: professional diving may affect not the best way to health of the child, causing a number of serious diseases. But simply swimming in the pool or sea, without the pursuit of what else the results will only be of benefit.
If the child is afraid, do not force it, in any case, to go into the water, not to forcibly drag, drop into the pond. After these actions the child is afraid of the water even more, and you lose confidence. Do not laugh at the baby, and do not compare it with other kids, do not discuss it with the child's "cowardice" to someone else.
Go into the water yourself, show your child how you enjoy, play with him on the shelf: he gradually realizes that the water there is nothing to worry about. Be patient and do not try to speed things up - the child is required to overcome your fear.
Sometimes, as a result of incompetent actions childish fear develops into a phobia. In this case, do not try to deal with the problem on their own: you need specialist advice.
